Safety regulations for use of aerial park activities
- Participants must participate in a briefing on how to use the equipment and behave on the installation by a site qualified guide.
- Participants must sign a Participation Form to use the aerial installations.
- Children under the age of 16 must have a parent or guardian signature on their form. A witness signature must be someone who participated in the safety briefing; for groups the witness can be the group leader.
- The guide will verify each participant’s personal protection equipment (PPE)
- Personal protection equipment includes: a harness, a leisure sport helmet with jugular strap, double lanyard with energy absorber, 2 automatic locking carabineers, a simple lanyard of 50cm, and double bearing pulley.
- Parents and children must obey the safety signs posted for each installation and throughout the site
- No more than 3 people may be on a platform at any given time.
- No more than 1 person may be on a zip line, challenge obstacle or climbing ladder at any given time.
- For comfort and safety the following sportswear is recommended:
- Hiking or running shoes, or closed toe sandals –
(No open shoes will be permitted during use of the aerial activities)
- Pants or knee-length shorts
- A long shirt that covers the stomach
- Long hair must be tied back (in a low bun)
- Remove earrings
- Remove or cover navel piercings
- Please note the aerial park activities take place in old growth pine trees; the gum of the tree can end up on clothing and hands. We are not responsible for damage to your clothing or personal items.

Restrictions
Aerial adventure course for kids
- For children ages 5-12
- Participants must measure between 1,10m (3ft7’) and 1,50m (5ft) and weight between 30-50kg (66-132 lbs)
- An adult must supervise children ages 5-12. This adult may supervise from the ground and follow the participant throughout the course.
Zip line (8 zip series)
- For participants 12 +
- Participants must be at minimum 1,46m (4ft10") in height and have a maximum weight of 113kg (250lbs)
- An adult must supervise children/teenagers between ages 12-17. This adult may supervise from the ground and follow the participant throughout the course.
Canyon zip/ Via Ferrata
- For participants 12+
- Participants must be at minimum 1,46m (4ft10") in height and have a maximum weight of 113kg (250lbs)
- Participants between 12-17 years of age must be accompanied by an adult (Ratio 1:6)
- Chutes Coulonge personnel maintain the right to request that participants complete the zip line series prior to trying the canyon zip. The participant is responsible for the additional fee associated with this.
General Restrictions
- A participant’s weight may not exceed 250 lb (113kg)
- Pregnant women are not permitted to participate in aerial activities.
- The participant is responsible to disclose any and all health problems to the instructors.
- No smoking is permitted on the installations, on the trails or in the children’s area.
Limits of use
The aerial park will not be operated;
- In a thunderstorm
- With winds greater than 60km/h
- Without sufficient lighting for the installations and the participants
- If there is ice on the platforms or cables
- Without sufficient staff to ensure participant safety
- During maintenance work which may arise as a result of the daily inspection
Staff Training
Guides are trained in safety and rescue techniques and have completed first aid courses. Monitoring of the aerial courses is done from the ground. Staff is ready to help and answer any of your questions. Depending on the situation, we may decide to send a guide with the group.
